How about coercive control by , look up the recent BBC article, Eleanor Williams, found guilty of 9 counts of perverting the course of justice.

Get the sentencing statement from the court’s website.

4 men accused and jailed they not charged, 20 women named and forced to testify, hate crimes, and more.

She took swatting far beyond its scope.

Great campaign by MoS and your 2nd article flows seamlessly from the first.

Bettina, at what point do you think you’ll be able to “publish” a book (maybe only an eBook) on your Substack posts… “Bettina Arndt’s Substack compendium? This would undoubtedly cause a backlash, but though the negative response it would reach out to those who support Boys, Men and Fathers rights but have so far been silent. Too soon?

That the campaign incited a vehement response from the woke left /snowflakes has gained it the publicity and creditability that it may have otherwise lacked. Even the myopic misandristic reporting gives credence to the MoS contentions and articulates that men can also be (equally) victims of coercive control and that males are being deliberately targeted by the woke /marxist left.

"This would undoubtedly cause a backlash"

Then there should be need for a sequel.

Hi B, great to hear you got the reactions you did on the day, as stated a lot of these laws that are passed concerning “strengthening” Domestic Violence laws etc go un-noticed except when someone is accused of breaching these laws then it’s just a world of hurt & confusion to say the least! I think most people think laws are passed & have an inherent sense of “fair play” nothing could be further from the truth, keep on keeping on Dx

Ken Lydon's avatar

The history of the domestic violence laws in western countries could be described as a ratchet principle, bit by bit these laws have been made harsher and broader and like a ratchet they do not go back.

When first conceived it seemed a good idea to make it easier for women who really needed help in domestic situations, it was meant as a last resort but the laws quickly became a weapon in the hands of unscrupulous people, the majority of whom sad to say , have been women.

This story from Surry, England, illustrates the problem with such laws. There has been an offense of Coercive Control here for some years. In this tale of a policewoman using this law to get rid of one partner because she has an affair with a new man. Of particular interest to MOS was the role of this man's mother in the detective work that proved his defense and led to the woman being prosecuted for perverting the course of justice. https://j4mb.org.uk/2023/03/23/surrey-police-officer-found-guilty-of-perverting-the-course-of-justice-and-fraud-by-false-representation/

It serves as a warning of how "relationship difficulties" can easily be twisted into a case. This one got as far as him being imprisoned on remand and a full prosecution case set for court. Before the truth was found out. But by then he'd lost his job, reputation and not doubt trust in the Police force he worked for.

This is a really good development and long overdue. Congrats to all again. Happy to do what I can to pitch in.

I am removing comments about issues which have nothing to do with the issues I write about here - even if I agree with them. There are other soapboxes for general political discussions.

This really puts male politicians in a real quandary. They want to be seen as heroically doing things for women. So how do they respond when (some) women label them as the problem? I very much doubt that Mark Speakman gives a rat's-ass about male victims of coercive control, but he won't want to be seen as someone who upsets women.

We're always told we need to listen to women's voices. But which women? Speakman has previously only had one voice to listen to. Men can't wash their hands or be defeatist about their role in beating feminism, but there are times when women's actions are more effective.

Great to see this. It's nice to have some good news.

William Maxwell's avatar

How soon before we see (little L) labor, the greens and teal's push for a Constitutional "Voice for Women"? Bugg*r (channelling my inner Kiwi); now I won't be able to unthink this.

Jo blo's avatar

Feminism -- the poison that pervades western society - relies on betting that men won't fight back because they are "women". This is why your mothers group is effective and will grow and succeed -- the vermin is gobsmacked by real women exposing their tyranny.

Being politically correct is being morally corrupt.

Jo blo's avatar

I meant morally bankrupt.

I think it was from Bill Clinton dat I first heard the term. Quite fitting....

William Maxwell's avatar

... I would go as far as to say "morally bankcrupt".

"the words politician and heroic are, in my opinion, mutually exclusive."

I recall several episodes of Yes Minister in which public servant Appleby prevented MP Hacker from doing things by calling the decisions "courageous". Hacker's terrified responses were a thing to behold.

LOL apparent M Thatcher watched YM to find our what some of her ministers were up to... YM pails into insignificance when measured against the reality of the seats of power in those countries that adhere to the Westminster system of plebeian enslavement

Greg Allan's avatar

No fiction can do justice to today's insanity.

William Maxwell's avatar

It's interesting the disproportionate percentage of politicians in Cth and state politics who were lawyers before they fully and openly embraced their dark side.

Ken Lydon's avatar

The White Knight syndrome a deeply entrenched quirk of Western culture , women are fragile and need constant protection from men and politicians think they have to toe this line for female votes. Mark Latham is the exception and more power to him.

William Maxwell's avatar

And yet feminists play on men being conditioned by society and evolution to be “white nights” while at the same time calling it out as being "patriarchal"

Humdinger's Cat's avatar

Well, I can't disagree with that!

But don't underestimate the delusions of an obsequious toady to look in the mirror and see a hero.

William Maxwell's avatar

LOL ... I believe they are all narcissists who worship only themselves

In few words I was just reminded of this Female attack on Men .... You see millions of these little black ants invaded my Lolly jar , Can you believe , Mortein , Raid and other sprays just wouldn't kill them fast enough ...... Our Society's Female activists are trying everything ,and Men are having a similar problem . BUT Ladies , never forget , WE are working on it .

William Maxwell's avatar

Nah ~ feminastys and marxists aren't like black ants; they are like 'fire ants' that are slowly invading and ravishing our country; epoicentre Brisbane.

I love this. I shared it with others, even tentatively to a friend whos close to a frikkin feminist. Oh i was honest to her, she knows exactly what i think of her friend's political position. Aaanhyoooo. I also sent it to my ex husband, it's good for him to be reminded that im a willing and staunch #MenToo supporter, for our kids sakes.

There are bumper stickers that have been produced concerning "The Voice" (vote no, and other wording), which I purchased. I don't have a car, so I put them all on a board and stuck it on my front door. Would it be possible to produce bumper stickers about the dangers of coercive control? I would be willing to purchase some if they were produced. The anti-voice stickers cost $2 each to buy, so anyone could afford them if they were produced by the same people that print the voice stickers. Just a suggestion. T-shirts would be good too, although the cost may be prohibitive.

William Maxwell's avatar

Do you have a like to buy stickers...like you I don't have a car, but I do have a letterbox.

Bettina Arndt's avatar

MOS is considering doing bumper stickers and T-Shirts but it isn't easy to come up with slogans that capture the complexities of what is going on here. Give them some time. They have only just got the first lot of flyers and posters out. Too much to do!

I am sitting here with tears in my eyes reading through Bettina's detailed, humourous and warm account of the brave MOS voluteers confrontation with mis-informed council folk. It's a great read. What a hoot! Wish I could have been there. Yes... we must all contribute to this river of emotion and make it a tsunami. I agree ... I urge people to please make a $$ contribution to support Bettina's Substack blog or this MOS campaign if you are unable to help physically.

Great campaign, Mrs. Arndt.

I am just watching your work from over the sea, from Germany. While I can't help you from here, I wish you all the success.

Hallo Jamie,

Das ist keine schlechte Idee, da hätte ich selber drauf kommen können.

Diese Dinge müssen weltweit angegangen werden, ich werde sicherlich unterstützen.

Einen schönen Tag wünsche ich Ihnen auch.

Know that your efforts are greatly appreciated.

Stay strong!
