This whole witchhunt on men seems similar to McCarthyism in the US in the fifties. It grew so grotesque and deranged and paranoid that people got sick of it. Court rulings put an end to it.
AVO/ADVO are common for both sexes now. It’s really not the case that police or magistrates automatically favour women. In many cases a neighbour will call the police because they hear an argument and it’s more likely the woman will be issued an order by police if she is angry, has been drinking. They are horrible inhumane unjust instruments that are used far too widely by the police, who admittedly have little discretion anymore. They destroy families, and harm children. Women especially can be coerced or feel they have no choice but to agree to an AVO by police. We are not all manipulative bitches. Then there’s a cycle between partners where fear will cause them to preemptively blame the other. And AVOs are now being issued to parents, grandparents, siblings on each other. Misgendering your own adult child can get you served with an ADVO now. This men v women situation with both parties arguing about who is the biggest victim does not help. The laws are inhumane. Our society is far too reliant on laws over social norms. Just remember that involving the law always causes harm. And calling the police is ALWAYS the wrong thing to do. Unfortunately sometimes it’s necessary. But to call the police bcs your partner went through your phone?
“Let’s not forget that coercive control is the biggest predicting factor in intimate parent homicide”, said the Minister for Women, Shannon Fentiman, when introducing the bill for the new Queensland laws.
I wonder if Ms Fentiman is aware of research indicating women to be more controlling in relationships?
Scary how the primarily female forms of aggression are being catered to up to and including criminal law.
There is one sure thing that will increase domestic violence, and it seems that the feminists are all for increasing domestic violence.
As I have grown, I have noticed that throughout my life women have been treated reasonably well. we have had such greats like Amelia Earhart, Rosa Parks, Harriet Tubman, Marie Curie, Ada Lovelace and so many more. These great people changed the world in so many positive ways, and they did it at times when (under todays mindset) they were living under oppressive conditions.
Yes, we can and often do celebrate these fine women, the mere fact that I know of these women is testament to that.
Are we going to celebrate the strong women of today, the ones who took simple behaviours and used them to imprison men, to destroy the lives of both their male partners and their sons? Our current age of man bashing is hopefully going to go down in history as a very dark time in history and the women and men driving this should all be remembered for the damage they did to our society.
FFS, more men die from taking their own lives that die on the roads.
"As I have grown, I have noticed that throughout my life women have been treated reasonably well."
Men have always welcomed women who were enthusiastic about the group's motivations and willing to put the work in. That's why there were women in stonemason and ironmonger guilds hundreds of years ago.
I've been privileged by association with high performance, often high profile folk through my entire life across sports, government and community sectors. A common feature among the women was not caring what other women thought.
Back in the Jurassic aka 79,80 etc I was training with some of the strongest women in the world, including the first to ever bench press 300lb. They were throwers in track and field as was I. Strength was an important element so they were hitting the weights hard. This was a time in which sports were still considered "unladylike" by many. According to the female athletes themselves ALL the criticism they heard came from other women. They spent much of their time laughing about it too. They would also tell you men tended to be supportive because "men understand the goal oriented nature of the training".
I've seen similar patterns across a range of areas. I think the mistake many women make going into male spaces is expecting to be treated differently because of their gender and demanding control of etiquette.
The successful women I've known all seemed to have escaped the crab bucket called "feminism" which makes a multi billion dollar industry out of reminding women how weak they are.
Bettina, excellent article - thank you. Here is a 5-part video series on coercive control that British girls are now being forced to watch in now-mandatory Relationship and Sex Education lessons at school:
Secondary schools in the UK are now teaching girls how to make criminal accusations of domestic abuse against their boyfriends and future husbands for coercive control, which was made a crime under the UK Domestic Abuse Act 2021. Half of all divorces in the UK now involve allegations of domestic abuse, overwhelmingly made by women to gain a massive and immediate advantage in gaining custody of their children and house.
The British government made Relationship and Sex Education classes in school mandatory back in 2017. Until recently, parents were not allowed to see what was being taught in these mandatory RSE classes (a law sponsored by feminist Theresa May when she was PM).
Women's Aid, a British Government-funded organisation of man-hating feminists that uses domestic abuse as a front for terrorist activities against men, is behind most of this.
Imagine if boys were were shown equivalent videos but with the genders reversed, on how to use the new law to incarcerate your psycho girlfriend? Men and boys would be appalled.
In these RSE lessons girls are not being taught anything about how to have a happy, meaningful relationship, how to resolve conflict, the Golden Rule, empathy, understanding, forgiveness, how to make things work, etc. They are only being taught that men are abusers and women are victims. After this feminist indoctrination in RSE lessons at school, there is little chance any of these girls will want to marry or will be capable of having a marriage that doesn't end in divorce.
"They are only being taught that men are abusers and women are victims."
Easy to prove when you class male victims of domestic and/or sexual abuse as "victims of violence against women". Extra humiliating for those boys and men abused by women.
Just wondering if you were aware of this presentation about the facts behind domestic violence. It was in 2016, but it seems to be a balanced study quoting its sources and figures.
Bettina, what a frightening picture you accurately paint...heaven help Aussie society! More power to you and looking forward to more common sense in 2024 :-)
Another top notch article Bettina, and more than timely considering the situation here in Australia. Only in the last day or so there was a media report that talked about the "failure" of the Queensland police to appoint so-called domestic violence experts into many designated police command areas. In keeping with your article, could it be that they are keeping those positions open until the indoctrination of police officers to only arrest men is complete? Neatly timed to coincide with the introduction of the draconian coercive control measures? Surely not. Call me a cynic but that Fentiman sounds like an appalling individual - anything she says should be taken with a very large tablespoon of salt to say the least.
"Only in the last day or so there was a media report that talked about the "failure" of the Queensland police to appoint so-called domestic violence experts into many designated police command areas."
Depending on the regime such "personnel" could be called "political officers" (I'm being kind here). Rest assured they will be well networked outside the actual police operations. The ideology must have control at every level of involvement.
15 Actions for Young Men to Survive Feminism. Written for the UK but applicable everywhere in the Anglosphere. Please forward to every young man you care about:
I wonder is there any research that correlates feminist driven legislation with actual violence against women? Is it possible that unfair legislation drives violence?
Yes you are on the right track, domestic violence orders given out carelessly by misguided magistrates or police have been directly responsible for the deaths of quite a few women.
One case from several years ago , a young woman was killed by her EX boyfriend , she had broken off the relationship and he could not accept it , continuing to call and harass her, she obtained a domestic violence order against him, this would have banned him from contacting her , but the courts and police failed completely in seeing that the young guy was unstable, he saw this as the final betrayal from the girl he loved and killed her.
You can not excuse what he did but there is no doubt that had this been handled better by the “system” and the young man received help and guidance , then the tragedy would not have occurred .
This is but one of many similar cases and always when they occur the call is for MORE and harsher laws against men , a vicious circle , as Einstein said “ insanity is continuing to do the same thing but expecting different results”.
Just the simple insistence on "innocent until PROVEN guilty" principle being applied would be a start. Follow that up with jail time for accusations PROVEN to be false.
Have a great Holiday Season , on a brighter note . . The only changes to the Feminazi front line , is it appears that more Women are paying the ultimate price , for what I can only describe as " The Female Invasion ". . Any jobs of power seem to be a target and very successful from about 10% of applications. I'm afraid I've reached the stage of turning of anything that has a female voice delivering . That alone is a frightening stage to reach , . Next step could not be as pretty in tormented minds .
I agree ,everything in the media now is female, most of the “talking heads” are women with attitude , oozing arrogance and self importance, they look down on men especially white and middle aged .
And it’s not just the media , recently we have seen women get the top jobs at many companies and institutions , ie. Telstra , Qantas , Reserve Bank , mining companies , etc. even football clubs ( that’s Australian Rules football not soccer)
I would say to them , do your duty to your country , stay at home and spend your best reproductive years doing just that. Australia’s birth rate is well below replacement .
Its surprising how many domestic disputes are both parties being dysfunctional. The media and feminists like to portray male violence as though its just some random thing that can happen at any time to any women. But the reality is domestic violence is highly predictable between two dysfunctional people. People with drug problems, bad upbringings, alcoholism and people with personality defects (like bipolar disorder or borderline personality disorder) etc. These laws really just protect dysfunction women from their own poor choices (poor choices in men). There is no way to "solve the problem", since the problem is dysfunctional people, be they men or women.
Australia is a “ dysfunctional “ country , with its history as a penal settlement and it’s unfortunate decendency from the equally dysfunctional England , if in doubt just look how our politicians carry on .
Thank you Ross for posting it again. So sad and so truthful. It doesn't matter what the reason is behind the abuse of the man, be it fraud, the woman wanting to be in control of everything and denying the man's contribution towards the family unit, her upbringing to believe she was entitled to what ever she wanted, ---it is DV towards the man. When women phone police to accuse the male, police remove the man from the home without investigation on the word of the woman, without one piece of evidence of violence by the man. Police deny that man justice when he then has to defend himself. He is at the mercy of everyone, including neighbors who are infiltrated by the woman. Kay I can only wonder how men with no family or support survive?
In Brisbane a woman was charged with stabbing murder of husband (child in house) sentenced to 9 years jail & released in 3 yrs. The court heard the woman had been psychologically abusing the husband- she was annoyed and angry. He was not acting in a threatening manner.
& A woman murdered the father of her son "because she didn't want to keep paying child support". The father's family said he was an all round good guy and an amazing father.
Did these receive the publicity that happens when women are killed?
The event Bettina went to Canberra for 16 Nov 2023 where there were 2,500 empty shoes on the lawn in front of Parliament house- one shoe for each of the males who die in Australia each year due to suicide. I heard nothing on the News or current event coverage. Read no media coverage. Why? It was not about women.
Thank you Bettina, without you we would not have known.
In WA. Women get away with murder, a Geraldton doctor killed her husband with a club hammer and was out of prison only 6 months after her trial, the court was very sympathetic and saw her as the “ victim” .
A controversial case indeed and WA courts now seem to be much tougher on women killers , this case must have been the wake up call. The infamous and misguided Rose Batty played a shameful part in her support of this woman doctor and worse was the role of Peter Dutton , now leader of the opposition , at the time he was foreign minister and buckled to lobbying by the Batty feminists. He allowed the killer to stay in Australia when she should have been deported, not being a permanent citizen.
How hypocritical of Dutton for making such a song and dance about the released detainees when he allowed a murderer to stay, but of course the Geraldton doctor was a WOMAN.
Ken, very hypocritical of Peter Dutton. When one remembers just how vindictive he was towards the Biloela refugee family. Politicians change their values depending on elections and "what's in it for me".
Run over a grandfather (he died), pretend that there were 3 Sudanese guys in her car (not true), she proved as a liar, have multiple prior driving offences and get tried in a Koori Court. No convictions.
This whole witchhunt on men seems similar to McCarthyism in the US in the fifties. It grew so grotesque and deranged and paranoid that people got sick of it. Court rulings put an end to it.

The Case is still I believe before a Coronial Enquiry. The accused is still free, subject to more of the above.
Jari Wise was indigenous. Where are the apologists demanding justice for him, rather than defending the offender/accused?
